Publicis Posts First Quarter Revenues Increase

Publicis has recorded a 6.5% increase in first quarter revenues, to £723 billion.

The world’s fourth largest advertising group said that it achieved organic growth of 3% for the first quarter of 2007.

The £1.7 billion growth in new client business was fuelled by wins which included Asda in the UK and Wendy’s in the US.

It added that the £660 million acquisition of the digital and direct marketing company Digitas last year was “unfolding smoothly” (see Publicis Buys US Digital Marketing Firm).

The group also said that is to create a global digital advertising agency network called Publicis Modem, to be created from a restructure of Digitas.

Maurice Levy, chairman and chief executive, said of the first quarter results: “Our external growth strategy is being carried out as planned. I am therefore confident for 2007 and I confirm our objectives of organic growth on the order of 5% over the whole year, with progressive acceleration as the year unfolds.”
