Berlusconi Company Could Bid For Emap Magazine Division
Mondadori, the Italian magazine publisher controlled by Silvio Berlusconi, has expressed interest in buying Emap’s £700 million consumer magazine division, according to a report.
Last year, Mondadori bought up Emap’s struggling French publishing business for £380 million (see Sale Of Emap France Agreed).
Emap is currently conducting a strategic review of its operations, with rumours of a possible joint bid from GMG and Apax (see GMG And Apax In Possible Joint Bid For Emap).
It is understood that Reed Elsevier, United Business Media and Informa are among those who have requested information on the company’s professional publishing operation.
GCap Media and Global Radio, the new owner of Chrysalis Radio (see Charles Allen Heads Chrysalis Radio Buyout), have emerged as potential bidders for Emap’s radio division.
