Vodafone Pull Out of Running In Tiscali Takeover

According to reports in today’s Financial Times, Vodafone has pulled out of the running to purchase Tiscali, an Italian ISP with operations in Italy and the UK.

Vodafone reportedly quit the auction process due to disagreements over Tiscali’s valuation.

Other UK companies still interested in acquiring Tiscali are BSkyB and Carphone Warehouse, while Switzerland’s incumbent telecom company Swisscom and Italian mobile operator Wind are also in the running.

Tiscali provides IPTV services in both Italy and the UK, with a modest UK subscriber figure of 36,000 as of the end of 2007. Total ADSL subscribers for both Italian and UK operations are currently at around 2.5 million.

Tiscali had total revenues of €276.4 million for Q1 2008 and a gross profit of €48.3 million.
