Singapore’s ASP Market To Pick Up Exponentially, Says Strategic Intelligence
Singapore’s ASP (application server provider) market is estimated this year to reach a value of U.S. $143 million, roughly twice its predicted size for 2000, says Strategic Intelligence. ASP services provide users and businesses with access via the internet to applications that would otherwise have to be located on the user’s site.
Strategic Intelligence says that whilst this is respectable growth, it is also a market in its infancy – $143 million represents less than 2% of the $7.2 billion that will be spent on IT and communications equipment and services by enterprises in Singapore this year.
Strategic Intelligence believes that the market for ASP services will grow moderately this year and next, but will begin to pick up ‘exponential’ steam from 2003 onwards. In 2004, the group predicts that the total ASP marketplace will reach a value of U.S. $1.3 billion.
