Mobile internet services attracted an average of 13.5 million page impressions per day during December, according to the latest figures released by the Mobile Data Association (MDA) and the UK’s four GSM operators.
The increasing variety and availability of services means that WAP is becoming part of everyday life for a large percentage of mobile customers. The MDA predicts continued growth for the medium, with WAP page impressions expected to reach 8 billion for 2003.
Earlier this week the MDA announced that the text messaging craze reached new heights during 2002, with almost 17 billion person to person text messages sent across the four UK GSM networks. The figures show that 1.6 billion SMS messages were sent during December, taking the daily average for the month to 52 million (see Text Messaging Hits A New High In 2002).
