International uptake of DTV The UK currently leads the world in terms of digital TV penetration, with 44% of households already using the platform.
BSkyB has been hugely influential in this conversion from the traditonal analogue platform, with all of its 6.8 million customers receiving digital satellite (see BSkyB Results Beat Market Expectations As Subs Hit 6.8m). It is the only broadcaster in the world to have completely ceased any analogue broadcast.
The US is currently in second place, with 42% DTV penetration, despite having launched the platform far earlier than in the UK.
