Asia-Pacific Broadband Forecasts From eMarketer

China and Japan will be the leading broadband countries in Asia-Pacific by 2005, according to forecasts from eMarketer.

In its Broadband Worldwide report, the research group calculates that households with a high speed internet connection will treble to 23.5 million in China, matching the total in Japan. South Korea has been leading the broadband race in Asia (see UK Lags Behind In Broadband Uptake, Finds FCC) but its growth rate is slowing and subscriptions will increase by a mere 10% in the next two years.

Broadband households, in the region as a whole, are projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 41% between 2002 and 2005. Asia-Pacific already accounts for more than four in ten of the world’s broadband lines (see Worldwide Broadband Lines Grow 24% In First Half).
