US Online Gaming To Reach 15m By 2014

By 2014, there will be 15 million online gamers in the US, with the market being valued at around $9 billion, according to the Themis Report On Online Gaming 2004, distributed by DFC Intelligence. The report forecasts that US gamers will pay an average subscription fee of $23.50 per month by this time.

Themis also forecasts that the value of the market for online games in the Asia-Pacific region will rise from 2003’s $640m to $720m in 2004. Government support of broadband has contributed to the runaway growth of online gaming in Korea, which is now being replicated in hyper-growth markets Taiwan and China, it says.

An earlier report from DFC Intelligence forecast that the global online gaming market would be worth more than $5 billion by 2008 (see Online Gaming Revenues To Pass $5bn By 2008, Says Report).
