US Magazine Ad Revenues Rise 7% In March

US magazine advertising revenues registered a 6.7% year on year rise during March, as the Financial, Insurance & Real Estate category showed a return to strong growth.

According to the latest data from the Publishers Information Bureau (PIB), revenues in March reached $1.8 billion, whilst page volumes declined by 1.9% to 20,947. In the year to date revenues are up by 7.0% at $4.1 billion and page volumes are down 2.3%.

“We’re seeing a shift in trends from the last couple of years,” says Ellen Oppenheim, executive vice president of the Magazine Publishers of America. “For example, the Financial, Insurance & Real Estate category, which has been greatly impacted by the struggling economy, registered an uptick in March and first quarter overall.”
