Broadband Set To Spur Stream Ad Revenue In The US

The popularity of broadband internet is helping to spur subscription and stream based advertising revenue, which is set to reach $625 million in the US during 2004 and $864 million in 2005, says a new report from AccuStream iMedia Research.

The report, Streaming Advertising and Subscription: A Complete Market Analysis 2003-2005 concludes that audio and video stream based advertising will make up 37% of total streaming media revenue in 2004, up from 28% in 2003.

As broadband users consume more of the internet, advertising has been following those audiences online and creating more demand for streaming media.

The streaming advertising market picked up momentum during the second half of 2003 and advertiser demand carried over into 2004. Upfront sales indicators suggest an even more robust market in 2004 and into 2005.

Paul A. Palumbo, research director said: “Advertisers understand the impact of visual messaging, particularly to targeted audiences.”
