UK Newspaper Adspend Forecast To Grow

The latest forecast from ZenithOptimedia predicts that UK newspaper advertising spend is forecast to grow next year by 1.1%, the first increase since 2004.

In its worldwide forecast, Zenith is predicting a 2.7% increase in newspaper advertising spend (see Global Ad Market To Grow In 2008).

Magazine adspend is forecast to increase 0.1% next year, compared to a 3.1% increase in 2007.

TV adspend is predicted to remain stable at 2.2% in 2008, falling to 1.5% in 2009, said Zenith.

The Publicis media agency also forecasts that UK internet adspend growth will slow, hitting 25.6% in 2008, down from 38.6% in 2007.

Zenith has also forecast that globally, internet will overtake radio advertising in 2008 and attain a double digit share of global advertising in 2009, before grabbing an 11.5% share of total adspend in 2010, becoming the world’s third largest ad medium.

Meanwhile, a recent forecast from GroupM predicted that worldwide advertising spending is expected to rise 7% to $479 billion in 2008, following an anticipated 6% increase in 2007 (see Worldwide Adspend Expected To Rise 7% to $479 billion In 2008).
