TV Overnights: Strong Tuesday evening for BBC One

Richard Hammond, host of Invisible Worlds

BBC One performed well last night, with EastEnders, Holby City and Richard Hammond’s Invisible Worlds all dominating their timeslots.

On BBC One at 7.30pm, EastEnders hit a peak of 8.6 million viewers.

Holby City, on for an hour at 8pm, had a peak audience of 5.7 million viewers, with an average of around 5.6 million tuning in for the entire hour (a 23.3% share).

It easily beat ITV1’s offering, Cops with Cameras, on at the same time, which could only manage an average audience figure of under 2.9 million (a 1.9% share).

At 9pm, Richard Hammond’s Invisible Worlds on BBC One drew a peak audience of 4.2 million, with this figure dropping slightly to an average of 4 million across its hour running time, probably because people turned off when they saw the host milking a spider.

On ITV1 at the same time, crime investigation drama Law and Order: UK picked up a peak of almost 2.5 million viewers – a 10.1% share of viewing.
