The latest Consumer ABC results for July-December 2013 reveal little change for the News & Current Affairs sector.
A total of 40.8 million people were online in the UK over the month of December, according to data released by online measurement company Nielsen.
Mirror Digital Group and the Independent online were the only online news platforms to see any growth over the festive period, while the MailOnline dropped by over half a million daily browsers.
The festive period appears to have hit the national newspaper market with the latest ABC results for December 2013 showing declines all round – except for the Guardian, which reported a marginal increase.
The latest figures for the national newspaper round-up reveal that all sectors were down for the month of November, with just a small handful of titles experiencing marginal growth.
According to data recently released by online measurement company Nielsen, the UK’s online universe grew slightly during October, resulting in a total of 41.6 million users.
The latest results paint a healthier picture for newsbrands, however it was bad news for the Sun as the recent introduction of a paywall saw its online readership decline -7.2%.
The Sun on Sunday was down over 600,000 readers, with just the FT, ‘i’ and Sunday Times recording any growth at all.
Despite comfortably keeping its title as the second most popular online newsbrand, the Guardian was down -5.8% to secure a little over 4.6 million daily users.
The latest ABC results for national newspaper print circulations show the Daily Mail and the Sun experienced declines in October, whilst the Sun on Sunday was down almost 200,000 copies over the year.
