Ulster Television (071 486 5211) has decided to drop AGB’s Television Consumer Audit in favour of a new up- graded system devised by Nielsen. Ulster is to inject £500,000 into the Nielsen Homescan panel, which it hopes will provide an accurate assessment of the use of consumer products in Ulster viewers’ homes.

Rumours of heavy redundancies at Saatchi and Saatchi have been denied by the company. It was thought that cuts would come to appease the City in advance of this afternoon’s results announcement.
Saatchi & Saatchi have announced pre-tax profits of £36m for the year to September 30, this is an increase of 63% on the previous year. Revenues were £808m compared to £974m in 1989. Young and Rubicam are looking to make around a dozen redundancies from their main agency. No more details are available at present. Meanwhile KHBB has made four people redundant in its creative department. A further 9 people have resigned from WCRS following the restructure that left 20 people redundant last week.
Chiltern Radio has announced profits of £1.3m for the year to September 30, this represents an increase of 35% on the previous year. The Chiltern network, which covers the Northern Home Counties area, intends to expand by applying for some of the 30 new stations the Radio Authority will advertise next year.
The international publishing company, the Quatro Group, is to close its magazine publishing section. The Group has been hit by the advertising slump and has put its four British and three Australian titles up for sale.
