Arts controller at LWT, Melvyn Bragg, has proposed that a percentage of the BBC licence fee should be used to produce public service programmes for ITV, Channel 4 and satellite stations. Faced with a ratings battle, ITV will find it increasingly difficult to fulfil public service duties, he stresses.
Total ITV/C4 combined revenue for May came in at £143.83m, up 7.3% on last year but down £5.61m on April.
