Pre-tax profits for Thames TV, due out on Wednesday, have been forecast at £45m before write-downs. It is also predicted that publisher of the Financial Times, the Pearson Group, will make a bid for Thames in the near future, estimated at £100m.

Midland Independent Newspapers is said to be interested in buying more Thomson Free Newspapers’ Herald & Post titles, including the Nottingham Herald & Post which has a circulation of 135,496.
Aspen Communications has sold its 13% stake in the GWR Group, which has a significant interest in Classic FM, for an estimated £1.9m. Some of the proceeds of the sale will be used for the expansion of Aspen’s core printing, marketing and media activities.
