Lloyds Bank is to be the overall sponsor of BBC’s Young Musician of the Year competition. Lloyds only got credited on the Master Class series this year, but from 1991 Lloyds will be widely recognised as the sponsor of the whole competition. The BBC maintains that no sponsorship money will go towards production costs.

Meanwhile KHBB has made four people redundant in its creative department. A further 9 people have resigned from WCRS following the restructure that left 20 people redundant last week.
Chiltern Radio has announced profits of £1.3m for the year to September 30, this represents an increase of 35% on the previous year. The Chiltern network, which covers the Northern Home Counties area, intends to expand by applying for some of the 30 new stations the Radio Authority will advertise next year.
