1.7 million viewers watch the opening ceremony on iPlayer

A new record has been set for online catch up services, with 1.7 million people watching the London 2012 opening ceremony on BBC iPlayer.

26.7 million viewers tuned into BBC One on Friday night to watch coverage of the opening ceremony.
