The X Factor second live audition show on Saturday evening pulled in a peak of 10.6 million viewers in its 7pm timeslot, making it easily the most watched terrestrial programme on Saturday.

This week’s show – which had an average audience of 9.3 million (a 45.2% share) – featured a standout performance by a Kings of Leon fan with an awesome afro.

Sunday night saw the battle of the classics, with ITV1’s drama adaptation Wuthering Heights going up against the movie Becoming Jane on BBC One.

On ITV1 at 9pm and playing over two nights, Wuthering Heights secured a peak audience of 4.2 million viewers, with 3.9 million (a 19% viewing share) staying tuned throughout its hour long running time.

Becoming Jane, on BBC One at the earlier time of 8pm, followed a young Jane Austen as she fell in love with a handsome young man.

On for two hours, the movie had an average of 3.3 million viewers – a 15.3% viewing share.

The situation was reversed somewhat on Monday, however, when the second part of Wuthering Heights – which grabbed an average audience of around 4 million viewers (a 17.9% share) – was beaten by BBC One offering Framed.

One-off 90 minute drama Framed depicted the trials and tribulations of a young family as they struggled to keep their small petrol station afloat.

It brought in a peak audience of 5 million viewers (a 21.6% share), while a average of 4.7 million (a 19.8% share) stayed with it for its duration.
