The Brits Award Ceremony had its most sucessful year on ITV yet. 11.08 million people watched the show in the wake of the Michael Jackson and Jarvis Cocker incident. The show also had a 41% consolidated share of the viewing audience for 8.30pm to 10pm on the Tuesday night it was shown.
BBC1’s two new drama serials Silent Witness and The Sculptress have both performed well in this week’s top thirty programmes list. The two episodes of Silent Witness shown on Wednesday and Thursday were watched by 12.20 million and 12.91 million viewers respectively and The Sculptress’ two episodes shown on Saturday and Sunday had 12.42 and 12.62 million.
Monday night’s episode of Eastenders was the third highest for a Monday since the soap started going out three times a week, watched by 16.79 million; this makes up for the Thursday show, which was beaten in the ratings by a second hour long edition of Emmerdale in as many months.
Total television viewing for the week ending 25th February 1996 has risen by 3.5% when compared to the same week last year.
