12Snap Appoints New Managing Director

Mobile marketing company, 12Snap, has appointed Martin Copus as its new managing director, replacing Anne de Kerckhove who left last year.

Copus will head up the public face of 12Snap and will work alongside the company’s chief executive officer, Michael Birkel.

Prior to joining 12Snap, Copus worked in a variety of roles across the marketing industry. He was vice president of Leo Burnett in Chicago and has worked in agency management, business development and account services. He has also worked for a range of consultancy companies advising dot-com start-ups on their launch marketing activity.

Commenting on this appointment, Michael Birkel, chief executive officer of 12Snap, said: “This is a really great step forward and a significant development for the mobile marketing sector. With Martin’s broad experience both in marketing services and on an international level, 12Snap is well equipped to accelerate its future growth.”

Copus added: “What really excites me about this new mobile medium is that it represents the holy grail that marketers – especially those with youth brands – have been looking for: accountable one-to-one interaction with the elusive youth market, and in real time.”

Earlier this year 12Snap bolstered its senior management team with the promotion of Matt Cotton to the role of director of sales (see 12Snap Promotes Cotton To Director Of Sales Role).

The latest figures from the Mobile Data Association show that text messaging reached an all time high in March, with an average of 56 million SMS messages sent each day during the month (see Text Messaging Hits All Time High In March).
