2.2 Million Tune In To Richard and Judy On 4

The first outing of the Richard and Judy Show on Channel 4 yesterday attracted an audience of 2.2 million and achieved a 14.8% share of viewing.
The show, which was shown between 5pm and 6pm yesterday, peaked at 5.15pm with an audience of 2.6 million and a 17.5% share. Channel 4’s head of daytime, Jo McGrath, said: “I am pleased of course. The goal for Richard and Judy has always been to offer viewers something different at a time of day when all the other major channels are showing soaps and quizzes.”
In its 5pm slot the Richard and Judy Show will come up against tough competition from the likes of The Weakest Link on BBC2 and Crossroads on ITV. An analysis of viewing figures in this Monday afternoon slot earlier in the month (see below) shows that while the TV couple’s opening viewing figures were respectable, they will have to do better to win the hour.
Richard and Judy drew an average audience of around 1.5 million when they hosted the This Morning programme on ITV.
