Channel 4’s controversial new documentary series Boys and Girls Alone attracted 2.4 million peak viewers last night.
The first of four episodes, which sees 10 boys and 10 girls aged between eight and 12 discover what life is like without their parents, pulled in 2.3 million average viewers and a 10% audience share between the all-important 9pm – 10pm slot.
However, BBC One managed to secure the peak audience at the same time with Traffic Cops, which attracted more than 5 million peak viewers and a 19.4% average audience share.
Elsewhere, ITV’s penultimate emergency services programme, Total Emergency, secured an 11.8% audience share and 2.8 million peak viewers.
Horizon‘s look at cannabis managed to pull in a respectable 2.3 million peak viewers between 9pm and 10pm, securing BBC Two with a 9.5% average audience share.
However, the soaps picked up the highest ratings of the evening once again – ITV1’s Emmerdale just pipped Eastenders to the top spot, attracting 7.8 million peak viewers to BBC One’s 7.7 million.
