2 Million Get A Kick Out Of Cantona’s Return
Unofficial overnight figures for Sunday’s Premiership clash between bitter rivals Manchester United and Liverpool, which featured the long-awaited return to first team football of Frenchman Eric Cantona, show that it attracted a peak quarter hour audience of 2.11 million viewers and a TVR of 16 for Individuals 4+.
For Men 16+ the peak quarter audience was 1.27 million and the TVR was 24; the peak audience for Men 16-34 was 0.65 million and a TVR of 30. The individual audience figure is less than Sky Sport’s highest ever figure of 3.43 million that it received for Frank Bruno’s WBC title clash with Oliver McCall, but higher than its highest premiership match, which was between Man United and Blackburn Rovers on Jan 22nd which attracted 2.03 million viewers.
