Mirror Group and Tony O’Reilly’s Irish-based Independent Newspapers have announced today that they will be raising £23m to help save Newspaper Publishing, publisher of the Independent and Independent on Sunday.
Both papers have had declining circulations and it has been rumoured that they may even close. The new financing deal means that both Mirror Group and Independent Newspapers will have a 43% share in the broadsheet publisher.
