24 Hour Sports Channel On Sky
Sky Sports are to launch a round the clock sports channel on the Sky Digital Satellite service on 10 August. The channel will focus mainly on football, but will generally involve a complete news service and live coverage of major sports as well as features and round-ups. Eight new presenters have been recruited for the channel, and Andy Cairns has moved over from his role at Sky News to be executive producer of the new 24 hour channel.
Vic Wakeling, head of sport at Sky Television, said: “This is a service that every sports fan has dreamed of. Whilst other networks are thinking of adding an evening sports round-up we have created an entire channel with constant updates of the latest sports news and a regular round-up of the news and developments from viewers’ favourite football clubs.”
