3.5 Million Wish Elton Happy Birthday

As Elton John turned 60 this week, ITV1 showed his birthday concert from Madison Square Gardens last night, watched by a peak of over 3.5 million adult viewers.

Meanwhile, BBC One’s Hotel Babylon continued to win the viewers as the five-star hotel based stylised drama attracted an average of 4.9 million adults in the key 9pm-10pm slot.

American imports House and Shark performed relatively well for birthday channel Five last night, with Hugh Laurie’s House peaking at 2.6 million adult viewers, despite being positioned against both Hotel Babylon and Happy Birthday Elton. Shark followed up with an average of 1.5 million adults.

Channel 4’s Irvine Welsh one-off drama Wedding Belles gained a peak of 1.4 million adults, although this gradually tailed off as the programme continued.
