4.8 Million Adults Watch ITV1’s Torn

Torn It was pretty close in the battle to be crowned king of the 9pm slot last night, with Torn on ITV1 just gaining the edge over BBC One’s Murphy’s Law.

Torn, the harrowing drama series starring Bradley Walsh and Holly Aird, had a peak audience of 4.8 million adults, a 23.4% share of the audience.

The BBC One cop drama, Murphy’s Law, had a peak of 4.5 million adult viewers (a 22.4% share) in the same timeslot.

Last night was the final part of a new three-part series of the James Nesbitt vehicle, with the genial Irishman once again donning the ridiculous moustache of hard-bitten cop Tom Murphy.On BBC Two at 9pm was the fantastic sci-fi series Heroes. Last night featured ex-Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston as Claude Rains, the invisible man.

The action-packed show had a peak of two million adult viewers (a 10% share) and about the same number of viewers stuck with it throughout its half an hour running time.

Millionaires’ Mission, over on Channel 4 at 9pm, did not do particularly well compared to the other channels, with a peak of one million adults (a 5% share) tuning in to the hour long show.

The series follows eight British entrepreneurs as they attempt to bring their business skills to bear in the development and aid of a rural African village.

An average of just 893,000 adults stuck with the programme for its hour duration.

This was easily beaten by Five’s How To Have Sex After Marriage, which aims to explore and resolve the problems facing married couples.

Last night’s instalment of the delightful series had a peak of 1.1 million adults (a 5.5% share), whilst an average of one million adults stuck with it for the hour it was on.
