The merger between MAID and Knight-Ridder (subscribers see MAID Shareholders Approve Knight-Ridder Takeover) will see the loss of around 450 jobs at the resultant online information provider, Dialog Corporation. The group is attempting to cut its workforce by 24% in order drive down operation costs of the enlarged Dialog group. So far 70 jobs have been lost in the UK and Europe. Dialog is to cut a further 120 posts attempting to knock £30m off costs.
