46% Interested In Digital Box

A survey by Taylor Nelson AGB reveals that 46% of respondents would be “quite interested” in buying a box to receive digital television. Only 6% however would want digital TV “as soon as it was available”.

Price is obviously an important factor and most people would want it to cost under £100 while heavier viewers would be willing to pay up to £150. Interest above £200 declines rapidly.

In terms of awareness of digital TV, 62% say they have heard of it, with this rising to 77% among men. 33% of males understand that digital will offer more channels, while for women it drops to 6%.

14% of people feel that there are “already enough TV channels to watch” and 13% would be concerned about the “quality of programmes on offer.”
