54% Against Fourth Coronation Street Episode

The latest CIA Sensor Survey has revealed that public opinion is against an extra episode of Coronation Street (Newsline 21/03).

Less than a quarter (22%) of the general public thinks it is a good idea, over half do not want it (54%) and the remaining 24% have no strong feelings on the subject. In terms of current viewers 34% want a fourth episode whilst 47% do not. Sunday is however the most popular day for an extra screening (with 54% support), then Tuesday (31%) and Thursday (15%).

Other findings in the survey reveal that 83% of adults are in favour of introducing the “V-chip” into UK TV sets. 12% do not want it and 5% are indifferent. The survey further shows that regardless of age, sex, social grade or household make-up, the public think the chip is a worthwhile development. Even 15-24 year olds are 72% in favour. Among mid-market newspapers 92% of readers support the introduction of the V-chip, compared to 86% support among tabloid readers and 78% among broadsheet readers.
