7.3 Million Watch Royale Family Special

The Royale Family The one-off special of the Royale Family screened on BBC One last night was watched by an audience of 7.3 million adults on average, taking around a 33% viewing share in the 9pm to 10pm timeslot.

Earlier in the evening, Coronation Street gained 8.8 million adult viewers (39%), whilst Emmerdale took 6.7 million (31%) and Heartbeat managed 7.8 million (34%) for ITV1.

Saturday saw Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One once again go head to head with The X Factor on ITV1, with the ballroom dancing contest gaining more adult viewers than the singing competition.

Come Dancing managed an average of just over seven million adult viewers in its timeslot, whilst The X Factor, which ran slightly longer than the BBC One show, managed around six million, a 38% and 32% viewing share respectively.

Robin Hood followed on BBC One with 5.6 million (28.6%) before Casualty took 6.4 million (31%). The talent contests’ results programmes, screened at different times, also saw Come Dancing lure more viewers than The X Factor, taking around 7.1 million compared to 6.2 million.

It was the soaps that triumphed on Friday evening, with Corrie coming out on top with an average audience of nine million adults (47.5%), followed by Eastenders with over 7.7 million (39%) and Emmerdale with 7.3 million (40.7%).

ITV1’s Blue Murder performed well with 6.4 million adult viewers on average (32.6%), whilst Only Fools And Horses spin-off, The Green Green Grass Of Home, took 4.9 million (24.6%).
