£99 Dish Offer Has Little Effect On Satellite Sales
Latest figures from GfK Marketing Services indicate that the offer, begun in April, of a dish and receiver for £99 is having little effect on the market – figures for May, June and July show the lowest growth since last September.
July’s growth was just 15,000 to a new total of 3,113,000 homes with satellite dishes. Since the start of 1995 the dish universe has grown by 151,000 homes; compared with 189,000 for the same period in 1994.
Cable television subscribers still make up a much smaller total, having just topped one million, according to the ITC’s September report, but this form of connection is enjoying much more rapid growth – up 48% year on year.
