AA Downgrades Ad Spend Forecasts But Predicts Healthy Growth For Nationals
The Advertising Association has released new forecasts for UK advertising growth during 2001. While TV, radio, outdoor and regional newspaper estimates have been downgraded, the market as a whole is forecast to grow by 3.9% due to healthy expectations for national newspapers and business magazines.
These downgrades reflect the situation in the US where the Dow Jones recently announced that earnings for Q1 2001 would fall below current market expectations due to slower than expected growth in advertising revenues. In the US however, the Wall Street Journal is suffering from a fall in revenue growth which contrasts with the positive growth rate expected from the national dailies in the UK.
