ABC Follow Up Report: Adverts In Teenage Titles

ABC results for the six-months ending June 2002 reveal a relatively lacklustre performance for Attic Futura’s TV Hits magazine, which saw circulation decline by 18.4% year on year (see ABC Jan-Jun 2002 Teenage Titles). Figures from Nielsen Media Research show that the title also experienced the sector’s largest drop in the number of adverts within its pages, falling by 15.83% year on year during the same period.

Emap Elan’s J17 saw a 10% year on year decline in number of adverts in the January to June 2002 period. In the corresponding ABC results the title saw the sector’s most significant year on year drop in circulation, falling 33.7% to 131,114.

Elsewhere, Bliss saw a 11.67% year on year decline in adverts in the six-month period ending 2002, whilst suffering a 1.9% decline in year on year circulation.

On the brighter side DC Thompson & Co’s Shout magazine saw the biggest year on year increase in number of adverts in the six-month period ending June 2002, with a 10.53% increase. In the corresponding ABC period Shout saw a 1.8% year on year increase in circulation.
