ABC results for the six-month period ending June 2002 paint a relatively stable picture of Music magazine circulation. Music titles saw a slight increase in overall circulation year-on year, with the biggest gains experienced by Emap titles.
Emap’s niche-market heavy metal favorite Kerrang! was the biggest mover in the sector, increasing its circulation. Metal Hammer also benefited from the continued renewed interest in new metal music.
However, market-leader Q easily maintained its pole position for Emap Performance, despite a drop in circulation it remained head and shoulders above the competition. Mojo, another Emap Performance title, also saw signs of an upturn. Dance music titles continued on their downward trend, with IPC Ignite’s Muzik title on the slide. Ministry of Sound’s trademark Ministry title was also hit hard.
