ABC Results Jan-Jun 2006:Home Interest Magazines Report Mixed Bag Results
The Home Interest magazine sector has seen a mixed bag of results in the latest release of ABC figures for the six-month period to June 2006, with some titles losing sales and others boosting circulation.
Quarterly title, Homebase Ideas, which is sold in-store and mailed to customers, has the largest circulation in the market at just over 424,000 copies, an increase of more than 6% year on year. IPC Southbank’s Ideal Home magazine remained strong in the sector with a total circulation of 237,525, despite an almost 4% dip in sales year on year.
Nat Mags’ House Beautiful shed almost 3% of its distribution year on year, with its total circulation now resting at 195,450 copies, whilst the company’s Country Living title increased just over 1% to leave it with sales of more than 192,000.
BBC Homes & Antiques suffered the biggest actual loss of sales, down by almost 13,000 copies year on year with a circulation of just over 100,000. However, the corporation’s Good Homes title remained fairly static year on year, with sales of almost 136,000 magazines.
IPC Media’s 25 Beautiful Homes magazine pushed its sales up by 6.6%, giving the title a circulation of more than 114,00 copies, whilst the company’s Homes & Gardens title fell by more than 7,000 copies, leaving its total distribution at just over 139,000. Conde Nast’s House & Garden, however, remained fairly static and commands a circulation of just over 140,500 magazines.
Real Homes, published by Cabal Communications, boosted its sales with a more than 15% rise year on year, to increase its sales to almost 75,500, whilst Essential Publishing’s Your Home shed almost 8,500 copies year on year, leaving its distribution at almost 122,000 copies.
Other IPC titles in the sector, Living Etc and Country Homes & Interiors, both lost sales year on year, dropping 3.8% and 8.1% respectively.
