Ad Revenues Grow At Border

Border TV has announced pre-tax profits for the half year ended 31 October of £1.5 million (down from £1.52m the previous year), though turnover increased from £6.728m to £7.782m. Border put the loss in profit down to the set-up costs of £679,000 for Radio 106FM.

Ad revenues for the period grew 4% in the group’s TV interests, 3% ahead of the ITV average, with much of the increase being generated from regional sales in the north of England and Scotland.

In terms of its radio interests, Border said that both Century Radio and Sun FM showed consistent rises in levels of audience which led to higher ad revenues. The newly-launched Radio 106 FM is expected to continue to trade at a loss until it establishes itself in the marketplace.

Ad revenues for ITV as a whole are likely to show signs of increased competition though hope was also expressed that the restructured Network Centre would show signs of “a determined fight back.”
