Adscene Announces Profits Of £2.67 Million

Adscene today announced its results for the six months ending 25 November 1995: profits before tax were £2.67 million, up 26% on last year; like for like publishing operating profit and margin was maintained despite large newsprint price increases; first contribution from Flair Press pushed printing revenues up to £12.877 million; the group also acquired four newspaper businesses for £30 million.
During the period overall ad revenue increased by 4%. Operating margins fell slightly to 19.1% from last year’s 20.7%. The papers which Adscene bought were EMAP’s Kent papers; The Tamworth Herald Group and the Lichfield Mercury Group. The acquisition of the Midlands papers extends Adscene’s geographical coverage and links two of its existing areas.
Adscene now publish 82 titles with a circulation of 1.750m copies per week. Of these 40 are paid-for titles selling over 260,000 copies per week.
