Adshel Secures Liverpool’s First Street Furniture Contract

Adshel has secured the first 15-year street furniture contract for Liverpool, in a deal worth £6.5 million.

The agreement, which complements Adshel’s existing bus shelter contract with Merseyside Travel, will see the company supply 170 ad panels and 6 automatic public toilets to the UK’s fifth largest city.

Commenting on the new contract, which is scheduled to begin in April, Adshel’s managing director, Julie France, said: “Liverpool is an incredibly important market and this win provides us with a unique offering to advertisers – 100% city centre domination and 78% city-wide coverage.”

Earlier this year Adshel launched an initiative to provide clients with a quantifiable estimate of the extra value gained or lost by the quality of a campaign’s creative. The contractor claims that the tool allows advertisers to see the financial implications of a creative before it hits the streets (see Adshel Consolidates Scottish Presence With New Deal).

The latest figures from the Outdoor Advertising Association brought positive news to the industry, showing that fourth quarter revenues rose by 15% year on year to reach £690.1 million for 2002 (see Outdoor Revenue Rises By 15% During Quarter Four 2002).

Bill Wilson, operations director at the OAA, said: “The outdoor industry has held on well in an unusually difficult market and has not been hit quite as much by the big ups and downs experienced by other types of media.”
