Advertisers And Agencies Demand Changes
At the ISBA annual conference on client agency issues, both advertisers and agencies called for changes in the way client/agency relationships are handled, urging an end to the system of payment by commission.
Keith Holloway, deputy president of ISBA, said that payment should be by fee, not commission, with a complete abolition of commission on production charges.
MT Rainey, managing director of Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe, called for a reinvention of agency structures, especially the end of commission. Kenneth Miles, ISBA director general, and chairman of the conference, said “This conference brought out clearly the urgent need for action,” adding “We shall follow up this call without delay.”
