Advertisers Demand Cinema Presence

Record-breaking cinema attendances are encouraging new advertisers to make full use of the big screen, according to new statistics released today by the Cinema Advertising Association.

According to the CAA a surge of blue chip companies are “demanding” to use cinema as part of their advertising mix: Virgin Atlantic, BT Corporate, Christian Dior, Habitat, Audi, Orange and Asda have all recently used cinema advertising for the first time, while a survey reveals that 43% of advertisements shown on cinema screens across the UK in the first half of 1997 are companies which have added cinema to their advertising strategy.

It is expected that 1997 will have the highest admissions figure since 1974 at around 130 million.
