Advertising Success At NBC Super Channel
Pan-European broadcaster NBC Super Channel has released its 1995 advertising sales figures. They are up 39% for the fourth quarter and up 40% for the year as a whole. Over a third of the channel’s sales gains came from advertisers new to the channel.
First-time advertisers include Chrysler, Philips, Microsoft, Toyota, Saab and Nissan. New campaigns from Chanel and Cartier were also shown. In the run-up to the March 1996 launch in Europe of a full-time CNBC live global business channel, accounts with financial services firms such as Union Bank of Switzerland, Merril Lynch, JB Oxford and Andersen Consulting were also secured.
Sponsorship packages also increased: Nokia sponsored Tonight Show with Jay Leno; Perrier sponsored Executive Lifestyles; and the International Wool Secretariat associated its name with the channel’s weather updates.
