Aegis Appoints Carat Chief To Head Up European Operations

Aegis Group has appointed Carat International chief executive, Jerry Buhlmann, to head up its European media operations.
Buhlmann will take up the new position with immediate effect and will oversee the group’s media communications, marketing consultancy and research operations across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Buhlmann has worked with Aegis for thirteen years and was the founder of UK media agency, BBJ, which was recently relaunched to become the basis of the UK arm of the group’s new Vizuem media network. He became chief operating officer of Carat International in 1999 and was promoted to the role of chief executive two years later.
Commenting on the appointment, Doug Flynn, chief executive of Aegis Group, said: “Jerry has significant international experience and knowledge of the Carat network. He has the energy and vision to make a real difference in taking our European media business forward.”
Buhlmann added: “We have many talented managers and specialists within our European businesses and I am looking forward to working with them to deliver success both to our clients and our networks.”
Susannah Outfin, currently vice president of Carat International, will replace Buhlmann as chief executive of the company. She will operate out of both Paris and London and will build on her experience of working with Carat’s major international clients.
Aegis has been working to strengthen it senior management line-up over the last few months and the group recently appointed Nigel Morris as the first ever head of its global interactive division, in a move that reflects a return to confidence in the online advertising market (see Aegis Appoints First Head Of Global Interactive Division).
