ITV1’s Agatha Christie’s Marple topped BBC One’s film premiere of Miss Potter, starring Renee Zellweger, with a peak audience of 5.6 million viewers last night.
The ITV1 crime drama, with a guest appearance by tennis star Greg Rusedski, gained a 24% audience share with an average 5.5 million viewers between 8pm and 10pm.
BBC One’s film, about the children’s author Beatrix Potter, pulled in a 22% audience share with more than 5 million average viewers between 8pm and 9.30pm.
At the same time, BBC Two managed to attract a 13.2% audience share with nearly 3 million viewers, to watch Top Gear’s 10th series highlights.
BBC One peaked on Saturday night with Bridget Jones’ Diary attracting 3.7 million viewers, just ahead of ITV1’s Foyle’s War with 3.2 million.
However, Channel 4 raced ahead on Friday evening with Big Brother’s earlier eviction show pulling in more than 3.7 million peak viewers, a 17% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.
The reality television programme knocked ITV1’s Agatha Christie’s Poirot and BBC One’s Would I Lie To You? and The Armstrong & Miller Show off the top spot.
