Airey Continues Shake-Up At Sky

Peter Shea is relinquishing his role as director of sales at Sky Media to make way for his deputy, Mark Chippendale.

Shea is to remain at the broadcaster in a consultancy role and it is believed he will be managing Sky’s relationships with industry associations.

Chippendale will report directly to Airey and is the second appointment since she took over as managing director of Sky Networks earlier this month. The other arrival was Sophie Turner Laing who will head up the group’s films and acquisitions business (see Airey’s Departure Represents Coup For BSkyB).

Commentators have viewed Turner Laing’s appointment as a coup for Airey as she was credited, as BBC’s controller of acquisitions, with importing the cult series Buffy The Vampire Slayer and 24 from the US.

Analysts are predicting further personnel changes at Sky Networks and it is widely expected Airey will bring some of her former Channel 5 colleagues to the broadcaster.
