Airey Rules Out Top Channel 4 Job

Channel 5’s chief executive, Dawn Airey, has said that she will not enter the running to take over from Michael Jackson as head of Channel 4.
Airey, who was tipped as favourite for the job when Jackson announced his departure earlier in the year (see
Jackson Quits Channel 4 Alli Tipped For Channel 4 Chief), BBC director of television, Mark Thompson and former ITV chief executive, Richard Eyre.
Channel 4, which is suffering in the face of the advertising downturn, cut 30 jobs and reduced its investment in its commercial arm, 4 Ventures, by 50% last week (see Ad Downturn Claims Jobs At Channel 4). The channel also announced that its £423m investment in programming will also suffer as a result of the worsening economic climate.
