Alex Zane to leave Xfm’s breakfast show

Xfm Xfm breakfast DJ Alex Zane is leaving the Global Radio station and being replaced by Ian Camfield, currently presenter of the 12-4pm slot.

It is understood that Zane is leaving by “mutual consent” as he has come to the end of his contract. His last show will be this Thursday.

The latest RAJAR figures, for Q4 2008, show that the Xfm breakfast show in London recorded a very impressive rise in its weekly reach, up 22.4% period on period, to 251,000 listeners (see 95.8 Capital Radio has London’s most popular breakfast show).

Zane joined the station to present a weekend breakfast show in 2003, before moving on to the Friday breakfast programme. He became full-time presenter of the coveted show in May 2007.

He has also presented shows on MTV and E4 as well as Channel 4’s Popworld and Celebrity Scissorhands.
