Ali G Launches E4

Ali G is lined up to kick off the launch of E4 tonight. Channel 4’s new entertainment channel will go on air at 8:15pm with Ali G unveiling his new “ghetto pimp” look.

Brand new series of Friends and ER will be feature in the opening night’s broadcast, followed by new comedy Banzai, Best of Borat and So Graham Norton. Targeting a 16-34 year old audience, the channel’s major competitor will be Sky One, which is planning a spoiler for the channel’s first night on air (see E4 Secures Carriage With Sky).

A last-minute carriage deal with BSkyB has assured the channel’s place on all major multi-channel platforms. A free-to-air service, it will be available as part of Sky Digital’s family package and included in similar packages on NTL, Telewest and ONdigital.

A website to accompany the channel will soft launch today with full launch due in March.
