Amra Restructures Sales Teams

The UK’s largest regional newspaper sales house, Amra, is restructuring its operations following the integration of the Mirror Regional Sales business. Amra, which is owned by Trinity, took on Mirror Regional Sales when Mirror Group and Trinity formed to create the UK’s largest regional newspaper group, Trinity Mirror (see Trinity Mirror Consolidates Regional Sales Into Amra).

As part of the overhaul, five new senior posts are being created and additional sales staff are being recruited. With the new appointments at executive level, Amra hopes to maintain the ratio of one sales person to every three titles represented.

London and Manchester will each have a regional sales manager for both north and south. Emma Boyce and Sue Lainsbury are promoted to the respective roles of regional sales managers south and north in London, while Leigh Bulmer and Trish Pugh take on the same roles in Manchester. The managers for the north will hold responsibility for Scotland, the North East, North West and North Wales regions, whilst the regional sales managers south will be responsible for the Midlands, southern England and South Wales.

Paul House, who launched the dedicated new business team responsible for generating more than £5 million since its inception in 1997, is promoted to national sales manager (new business) and will concentrate on attracting national advertisers to the regional press.

Amra’s restructure comes in the same week it emerged that The Word, a dedicated one-stop-shop for national advertisers wishing to use the regional press, is set to close down (see The Word Set To Close).
